D&H 5000 leads a C-420 and C424m on a Northbound that is climbing Richmondville Hill at West Richmnodville, NY on December 29, 1981. I was fortunate to catch 2 trains with all Alco lashups on this trip to the area. This was always my go to location in the area as my friends grandfather lived just a couple miles up the road from the West Richmondville grade crossing.
For 30 Thursday we see CP 5000-942 cresting the grade out of Penn Central's Detroit River Tunnel. Originating at the C&O's Rougemere Yard in Dearborn Michigan, they will take a circuitous route eastward along PC's Canada Division Mainline out to Pelton and then north on the C&O's Canadian Subdivision No. 1 before turning eastward on the CP's Windsor Sub at Walkerville Junction. Geez, I hope I got that right. It was a long time ago.

¿Sabes la sensación de conseguir una fotografía que lleva rondándote la cabeza mucho tiempo?
Hace años que quería intentar esta, y por H o por B nunca la hice. Gracias a mis fieles compañeros por empujarme a no esperar más.

This is a 35 shot panorama of the Crux & Carina region of the Milky Way as it rises above a dry, cracked lake near Quairading, 2 hours east of Perth in Western Australia.
The south of my state has just experienced one of its hottest and driest summers on record so most shallow lakes in the area have been baked to a crisp, this one was no exception.
Prominent in this image is the pink, petal shaped Carina Nebula near the centre, just above the dark CoalSack Nebula (the head of the Emu) with the Crux constellation to its immediate left. The deep red area in the top centre is the Gum Nebula. There's also quite a bit of green and red airglow above the horizon.
The 1950 has subtle design differences from the 1949 model, which was a whole new car when introduced.

Canon1DX-2 with 300mm 2.8 prime lens
This camera and lens are a phenomenal combination as you can see......there is very little grain in the picture and at f/5.6 the set up has managed to apply focus throughout the picture. This, in my opinion, is down to selecting, in camera AF point expansion in this case 9 points.
If you're wondering about the settings, why f/5.6, why ISO 6400 well this is because the light at that time was dull and to stop the subject in flight requires fast speed. In hindsight, the f-stop could have been 6.3 or even 7.1 or the ISO 5000 producing a shutter speed of around 1/3000 sec but you go with what feels right to you the button presser and hope for the best. One other thing to consider is exposure the bird has a large amount of white about it, so I have underexposed by 2/3rds of a stop.
Having just met an eastbound this CP extra for Windsor, Ontario is starting to pull out of the siding at Longwood with GP30 5000 leading a pair of M630's in May of 1987.
